Welcome
to
Created and developed by Pam Lindsey, HeARTSongs Early Childhood Arts Program is a music-based curriculum developed to expose young children to all the arts disciplines during their most formative years. The program began as a model program in Georgia in the fall of 2002, initially serving 140 children in two North Georgia counties. In July 2003, the success of the program promoted expansion into other counties in Georgia, as well as North Carolina and Tennessee. There are now over 1,200 children enjoying the HeARTSongs classes each week. The HeARTSongs Program offers weekly instruction by arts specialists with a music-based curriculum that utilizes all disciplines of the arts including music, dance, drama and visual arts. Classes are flexible in structure and allow for improvisation and encourage spontaneity. The arts specialists work in partnership with classroom teachers to create a good "pro-arts" learning environment. The program relates music to the other arts, as well as disciplines outside the arts, which enhances student understanding particularly during the early developmental years. HeARTSongs is an interactive program for all children with all levels of talent, with and without disabilities. The Craddock Center, a non-profit organization committed to community service, education and enrichment for people in Southern Appalachia, originally endowed the HeARTSongs Program in 2002 for Head Start and Preschool children in Southern Appalachian States. In 2005, The Craddock Center appointed Pam Lindsey to Coordinator of Children's Enrichment Program which encompasses music and dance classes (formerly HeARTSongs) as well as storytelling (click here for a review of Pam's work by Fred Craddock).
There's a song living in your heart...
It's there beating, won't you do your part...
Let it out
for all the world to sing,
